About

The best photo's are not made.

You walk down a street, find an interesting subject and make a photo. But meanwhile, you didn't go the other streets and so you missed the scenes there.

Photography is just a minuscule subset of the myriad of subjects, scenes, moments and angles that occur. So, let's be both eager and humble.

My favourite photo's would look like a still from a movie or the format of a haiku, so more about moments than about subjects (credits to Michael Rubin). My preference is to have people in my photo's. It turns a static situation into a dynamic story that challenges the imagination of the observer.

My observation is that landscapes, nature and architecture (but also many portraits) can be beautiful and boring at the same time. So, street photography seems to be my natural habitat.

Just to avoid all the hassle and complexity, I self-imposed some restrictions to make life simpler: one camera, 35 mm, available light, and mostly in landscape and color.

My photo's come with a title or sometimes, when I can't find the right words, with a few sentences or even a haiku.
